Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 cups kolatha dal soaked for 4 hours.


  • 1 cups veggies like pumpkin , radish , brinjal


  • 2-3 nos pods of garlic chopped


  • 1 tbsp chopped onion


  • 1 tbsp chopped tomatoes


  • 1 tsp chopped green chili


  • 5-6 nos fresh curry leaves.


  • 2 tsp mustard oil to cook


  • 1/2 tsp pancha phutan


  • 2 nos dry red chili


  • 1/3 tsp asafetida (hing)


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 2 piece ambula

Directions

  • In a microwave safe bowl take the chopped veggies turmeric and a pinch of salt and cook for 5 minutes .
  • Clean the soak dal and mix rest of the tumeric powder and a little salt . Pressure cook for 5 minutes after the first whistle to get soft dal.
  • In a wok heat the oil . Add panch phutan and hing. Let them crackle. Add chopped garlic and fry till golden.
  • Mix Onion, Curry leaves, Chili and fry till the Onion translucent.
  • Add chopped tomatoes , cooked veggies and Ambula. Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Mix the cooked dal now. Adjust the salt and water and bring to boil.
  • P.S. Ambula is prepared from raw mangoes. Peel the skin and cut into half. Add salt and turmeric. Dry in the sun till all water evaporate. Store them . Remain years long as such. Salt is the preservative here.
